What does an AI receptionist do for a service business?
An AI receptionist answers your business phone live, around the clock, when you and your crew cannot. It greets the caller, works out what they need, answers the routine questions about hours and service area, and books the job straight onto your calendar. Every call ends with a text summary to the owner, so nothing sits on a voicemail nobody checks. For a plumber or an HVAC company that means the 2 AM no-heat call gets answered, triaged and booked while you sleep, instead of going to the next shop that picks up.
Today we call it VOX. Whatever the name on the box, the job is the same: the phone gets answered and the job gets booked.
What does an AI receptionist cost?
A typical answering service costs $300–$500 a month and only takes messages. Our AI receptionist costs about the same, answers instantly at any hour, and actually books the job into your calendar instead of leaving you a note. Every package is month-to-month after the initial commitment, and the setup fee is one-time. Full numbers are on the pricing page; the two that matter for the phone are below.
All prices USD. Trade configuration is included in the setup fee on every package; there is no per-trade surcharge.
What happens on an emergency call?
Before its first call, the receptionist is set up with your trade’s emergency rules: which calls are true emergencies worth waking you up for, and which are next-available repairs. When a caller describes a real one, it recognises the life-safety vocabulary, opens the emergency slot instead of a routine one, and texts the owner immediately. No waiting for morning. Where it helps, it walks the caller through the safe basics first, then dispatches. A routine job gets a scheduled slot; a real emergency gets a human moving.
These are the trade scenarios we configure against. The exact rules for your business (who gets the text, what counts as an emergency, which slot opens) are set during onboarding.
Configured for your trade, not a generic script.
Each trade page shows the calls the receptionist is trained to take at 2 AM, the vocabulary it knows, and how it books your kind of job.

Questions owners ask before they switch.
Is it a real answering service?
It does the job you would hire an answering service for: the phone is answered by something other than voicemail, at any hour. Then it does what a message-taking service cannot, which is book the job straight onto your calendar and text you the summary. It is software, not a room of operators reading a script, and it is configured for your trade before it takes its first call.
Does it replace my office staff?
No. It answers the calls your office cannot: after hours, weekends, holidays, and the moment both lines are busy. You can forward your existing line to it, publish its number directly, or use it as an overflow line. Your staff keep the calls they already handle; the receptionist catches the ones that used to go to voicemail.
How fast can it go live?
Trade configuration typically adds only a few days on top of the base deployment timeline. Vocabulary, emergency triage rules and booking logic are templated per trade, not built from scratch. We confirm the go-live date on the audit call.
What if the caller wants a human?
It hands off cleanly. A real emergency texts the owner immediately. A caller who asks for a person is routed the way you set up during onboarding, and you get the caller's details and what was said so far, so nobody has to start over.
Does it work with my existing phone number?
Yes. The receptionist comes with a dedicated US phone number. You can forward your current line to it, publish the new number directly, or keep your number on the desk and use the receptionist as the overflow line.
Do you only work with trades in Alabama?
No. Alabama is home base and where we meet clients face-to-face, but every deployment is remote. The same receptionist works anywhere in the US your trucks or techs roll.
